…for those who never give up and are doing what they love no matter what!

Month: September 2013

  • Took my bike to a ramp and made some jumps

Took my bike to a ramp and made some jumps this evening! Damn, I got to do this more often.

  • Headache and back pain

This week have been a struggle with headache and back pain. I missed this tuesdays training but went to the track yesterday and had a relaxed session. I tried to do things differently and push my technique a bit, it was sketchy and fun!

This morning I went to the gym for a session of legs and triceps. Hopefully there will be more training this weekend!

  • Season Twenty Thirteen #byebye

This season of bmx cruiser racing is fading out and this week has really showed it. I’m really happy about my progress this year, a year that almost made me quit bmx racing.

I haven’t said anything about this here on the blog yet but in the beginning of this year I started of riding a new black Chase 20", very close to my dream bike.

One day in March I decided to go to the track all by myself, not recommended. After a couple of laps at the track at Kungsbacka, I entered the first turn and headed towards the first jump which is a table top and jumped… After that I can’t remember what happened until I woke up next to my car laying on the ground with half my body into the driver seat. From where I’d crashed it’s almost 200meters and I have no memory from that time and how I got to the car, scary stuff. I managed to call my girlfriend and she and here sister decided to called the ambulance cause I was speaking and crying without any sense. The ambulance came and after that my memory is clear as hell even after the morphine kicked in. After this they x-rayed my body and I really thought that something in my left backside and right hand were broken but it turned out just being a crack, sprain and a large concussion, which meant two weeks in bed.  I told my self to never ride again!

…So one month later after many thoughts and lots of fear I decided to try again just to see how it would feel, do I hate it, am I to afraid and so on. Along with my girlfriend I took my bmx cruiser 24", that I bought just to enter some races that summer, to a track in Lerum for a test session. It was scary but really liberating and I pumped the track lap after lap. After this session I made some rules for my racing and rule #1 was not to jump in the near future or ever and just use speed and pumping.

Summary: This year turned out to be great, now eight months later I have learned to wheelie, won some races and even jumped some doubles in this late season.

I love bmx racing and I’m really glad we found each other again and now when It¨s time to hit the winter training and make a plan for next years races I’m really stoked about it.

So today I took my legs for a run and some outside workout, I say good bye to season 2013 and here comes the 2014 pre-season training…

  • Today i had bmx training in kungsbacka

Today I had bmx training in Kungsbacka and the rain poured down, I really love that except for the lost of speed. This session was mostly legs and stamina. My legs were really sore from yesterdays session but I really pushed it all today.

  • Started todays training with a light weight gym

Started todays training with a light weight gym session, only legs and back. Then I had a session of Hot Moyo. The gym introduced a new schedule for the Hot Moyo last week a now its more focus on the hips for three months, exactly what I need!

  • Kungsbacka’s club championship

Today it was time for Kungsbacka’s club championship. My body was a little bit sore but I felt that it would be fun to enter!

At the track, it was a nice atmosphere and Ola Lindström a cruiser 40+ riders started the pep talk, he’s funny and great!

We were only 8 people in our class, mixed up 30+ and 40+. This means that we have no qualifying races, just 4 heats where everyone have to give it all in every race, extremely hard today 🙂

Heat 1, after a nice start i were 2th in the first corner and on the third straight I managed to get by Ola and do some wheelies at the same time with out doing mistakes.

Heat 2, here it was time for Ola to win, I made three big mistakes and almost flew over the handlebars. But I fought all I could and was 50 cm from a win 😉

Heat 3 I won after getting by Hans Onken who finished second in this heat. Even in this race I made big mistakes, missing my pedaling, pumping with out rhythm…

Heat 4, Here I found a gap in the first turn and past Onken and finished in 1th place, my turning skills works fine now!

So in the end after 3 wins and 1 second place I stood as the overall winner.

Winning is fun but my riding was actually beneath contempt with errors and mistakes, the only that were working was my starts and turnings, so now it’s time to practice!

Extra: Some of the elite riders entered the club championship in dresses, nice touch 😀

  • Chill session with a squeeze of jumping!

Today I went to the track in Kungsbacka to take a chill session cause I have some pain in my knees, running knees… I did a few starts and took it easy most of the times.

Later on we had a jumping session on the second straight and a little bit unexpected I managed to remove of my goals this year, jumping the first double! I blame the kids at the track, they pushed me to do it 🙂 #nophotojustpepp

  • Last of round of Swe cup

This weekend was the last of 8 rounds of Swe Cup, it’s the swedish cup for bmx and here comes a summary.

Saturday: the 7th round started good with some good heat battles with my friend Björn, but in the A final there was a fast Norwegian guy, Pål Grotnes, that where really superior so me and Björn fighted for the second place, I lost and finished third but were really stoked! I jumped one of the large doubles on the track and it felt sick, see the first video!

Sunday: the 8th round were a little bit slower I had 3 great heats all ended in second place behind the Norwegian guy. Then it would come to the A final, that was the sickest I ever road. I have had some problem with another rider, Andreas that are really blocking me all the time and in the finale I really focused on him. After a pretty good start we came up side by side in the first corner, second place, I felt that he were getting closer to my side so I tried to jump by him and managed to get a little bit a head then just before the second corner i felt him on right side so I decided to make one of his moves and turned to the right and made a block. Unfortunately I hit his tier and he crashed to the ground and Björn that were behind him smashed in to him. I managed to run away and get on the bike immediately and hold my 2th place. The good thing here is that no one got hurt but my shoes are mashed up 😉

So this was the last of 8 race days in this cup and I managed to keep the gold sign and win the cup! I’m super stocked an look forward to next years Swe Cup!

  • Awesome fight and a third place

Third place after an awesome fight with björn! I even jumped one of the doubles today. #pepp

  • Off racing for two days

Off to the track, racing for two days! #weekend-warrior
