Every year here in Sweden they have Vasaloppet. Vasaloppet is an annual long distance (90 km) cross-country ski race (ski marathon). It is the oldest, the longest, and the biggest (in terms of participants) cross-country ski race in the world.
Yesterday when I went to the gym I saw a sign that they would arrange a four hour cycling class during Vasaloppet and streaming the race on a big screen. I didn’t think more of that til this morning when I woke up at 6:45 am and felt, damn I have to try that!
So after a fast breakfast with two sandwiches and plate of oatmeal porridge I went to the gym. I the car on the way over I decided on forehand that I would hold a pace a little bit under my normal levels because the race will be for so long. At 8 pm I sat on the bike and around 12 o’clock and 110 km later I walked out of the gym. My legs are a bit sore but otherwise I feel pretty good I must say. Next year I will do it again it was really fun! No I have to eat, eat and eat…
